Technology Center announces Spring 2008 Graduates

The Fall Trimester at the Tennessee Technology Center at McKenzie ended with Awards Day on April 21. The ceremony, organized and sponsored by the campus-wide Student Senate, was held at the McKenzie Church of Christ and led by the Center’s director Elizabeth Check.

A total of 59 students received there diplomas or final certificates and numerous others were recognized for completing certificate levels during the Spring 2008 Trimester. Also recognized during the ceremony were students who were inducted into the National Honor Society.

Twelve students were inducted into the National Technical Honor Society. Honor society inductees include Shawn Collins, David Critchlow, Kenny Kennon, Michele Bona, Donna Bryant, Chrissie Reed, Betty Hicks, Becky Hudson, Stephanie Allen, Debbie Hodge, Melissa Stewart, and Meg Shelley.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held in honor of the graduates and their families.

On Thursday April 10th we held our Annual Advisory Committee Meeting. We would like to thank all our committee members for supporting us and attending the meeting.

2008 Career Fair






We had a great turnout for our Annual Career Fair. Thanks to all our participants Goodyear, Hamilton-Ryker, Manpower, Behlen Manufacturing, Windsor Republic Door, Norandal, McKenzie Regional Hospital, TN Army National Guard, Jackson State Community College, and TN Department of Labor and Workforce Development.

Welding Student Place in State Skills USA Contest

Two Welding Technology students from the Tennessee Technology Center at McKenzie placed in the State Skills USA contest held last month in Goodlettsville.

Will Simmons from Union City placed 3rd in the state in the postsecondary competition and was also the West Tennessee Regional Winner. McKenzie High School student, Shay Barksdale, competed in the secondary welding contest and finished 4th in the state.

All the students in Jimmy Kee’s welding program at McKenzie are members of the state Skills USA team.

Welding is on of nine full-time training programs offered in McKenzie. For more information about welding or another program, call the Technology Center’s admissions office at 352-7506

On Thursday March 27th BST Instructor Daphne Brown, Student Senate President Bud Travelstead and myself presented a program to the McKenzie Primary School K-4 grades about seat belt safety attached are pictures from that event.
