Fall Community Service

TCAT-McKenzie Students' have had a busy Fall Trimester.

Students collected 117 coats in October.  Our box was overflowing!  All were donated to United Neighbors of Carroll County.

Our annual canned food drive raised 5,276 cans.  Each program competes to see who collects the most cans per student enrolled in that class.  This year, HVAC/R earned the bragging rights raising 92 cans per student or 2,311 cans.

United Neighbors of Carroll County were ready and waiting for their donation!

TCAT-McKenzie wins Bronze at National Level

TCAT MCKENZIE STUDENTS WIN NATIONAL AWARD

Three students from Tennessee College of Applied Technology in McKenzie brought home the bronze medal in the National SkillsUSA Competition held in Kansas City Missouri.

TCAT-McKenzie HVAC students competed in the Community Service competition of National SkillsUSA. The community service competition evaluates local chapter activities that benefit the community. The chapter presents its best community service project for the year.  Contestants are evaluated on a notebook which reports their chapter’s community service project and on a live presentation, which is given to a panel of three judges.

Winners of the bronze medal are Richard Black of Trenton, TN, Matthew Matheny of Paris, TN and Benjamin Thomas of Cedar Grove, TN.

SkillsUSA is a national organization serving teachers, high school, and college students who are preparing for careers in technical, skilled and service occupations, including health occupations.  SkillsUSA programs include local, state and national competitions in which students demonstrate occupational and leadership skills.  At the annual national-level Skills USA Championships, over 5,000 students competed in 87 occupational and leadership skill areas.

TCAT-McKenzie is proud our national winners and of all our students who have competed at the State and National level this year.
