Fall Community Service
TCAT-McKenzie Students' have had a busy Fall Trimester.
Students collected 117 coats in October. Our box was overflowing! All were donated to United Neighbors of Carroll County.
Our annual canned food drive raised 5,276 cans. Each program competes to see who collects the most cans per student enrolled in that class. This year, HVAC/R earned the bragging rights raising 92 cans per student or 2,311 cans.
United Neighbors of Carroll County were ready and waiting for their donation!

TCAT- MCKENZIE HOLDS NATIONAL TECHNICAL HONOR SOCIETY INDUCTION
CEREMONY
TCAT-McKenzie inducted 7 students
into the National Technical Honor Society on August 6th, 2014. The
ceremony was conducted by Maureen Sledd, Administrative Office Technology
Instructor and National Technical Honor Society Advisor.
In order to qualify, the student
must be entering at least their second trimester, must maintain an “A” average and must not have missed more than 22
hours in their previous trimester. The student must also promote the ideals of
honesty, service, leadership and skill development among the future workforce.
The student is nominated by his/her instructor for admittance into the NTHS.

From Machine Tool Technology – Zach Crider;
From Green Electronics Technology – Josh Davis

TCAT-McKenzie wins Bronze at National Level
TCAT MCKENZIE STUDENTS WIN NATIONAL AWARD
Three students
from Tennessee College of Applied Technology in McKenzie brought home the
bronze medal in the National SkillsUSA Competition held in Kansas City
Missouri.
TCAT-McKenzie
HVAC students competed in the Community Service competition of National SkillsUSA.
The community service competition evaluates local chapter activities that
benefit the community. The chapter presents its best community service project
for the year. Contestants are evaluated
on a notebook which reports their chapter’s community service project and on a
live presentation, which is given to a panel of three judges.
Winners of
the bronze medal are Richard Black of Trenton, TN, Matthew Matheny of Paris, TN
and Benjamin Thomas of Cedar Grove, TN.
SkillsUSA is
a national organization serving teachers, high school, and college students who
are preparing for careers in technical, skilled and service occupations,
including health occupations. SkillsUSA
programs include local, state and national competitions in which students
demonstrate occupational and leadership skills.
At the annual national-level Skills USA Championships, over 5,000
students competed in 87 occupational and leadership skill areas.
TCAT-McKenzie
is proud our national winners and of all our students who have competed at the
State and National level this year.
