Spring Awards Day

The Spring Trimester at the Tennessee Technology Center at McKenzie ended with Awards Day on April 20th. The ceremony, organized and sponsored by the campus-wide Student Senate, was held at the McKenzie Cumberland Presbyterian Church and led by the Center’s director Dr. Brad White. Opening remarks were made by Student Senate President TJ Dailey.

A total of 50 students received their diplomas or final certificates and numerous others were recognized for completing certificate levels during the Spring 2012 Trimester. Also recognized during the ceremony were students who were inducted into the National Technical Honor Society, and students who attained Perfect Attendance.

Six students were inducted into the National Technical Honor Society. Honor Society inductees include Kendall Willis, Shawn Eaton, Stacy Cullipher, Melanie Early, Valeria Yarbrough and Norma Mitchell.

Seventeen students were recognized for achieving perfect attendance during the previous Fall Trimester. Those receiving Perfect Attendance certificates were Matthew Cary, Adam Askew, Randall Adkisson, Valeria Yarbrough, Norma Mitchell, William Hall, Seneca Williams, Virgil Tuck, William Adams, David Fortson, Kenneth Driver, Garrett Greer, William White, Jeffrey Axley, Raymond Haney, Brian Morgan and William Lowe.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held in honor of the graduates and their families.

Ribbon Cutting of Skills USA Playground

On Friday March 16th a ribbon cutting was held at the newest addition to Milan Christian Academy the brand new Playground. The playground was built by students at TTC McKenzie and TTC Paris after receiving a Lowes/Skills USA grant.

New A/C Unit

On Thursday February 9th the school received it's new Carrier air conditioning unit. The new unit replaces the existing unit that had been in place for 16 years.

Congratulations Loren French

Congratulations go out to Loren French who received her diploma as a Medical Administrative Assistant through the Regent's Online Degree Program. Loren took classes online while she worked as a pharmacy technician at Medical Center Pharmacy in Paris.

TENNESSEE TECHNOLOGY CENTER AT MCKENZIE RECEIVES GRANT FOR COMMUNITY SERVICE

– Lowe’s Charitable and Educational Foundation has awarded a $10,000 grant to the Tennessee Technology Center at McKenzie for construction of a playground on the campus of Milan Christian Academy.

Skills USA Students will construct a playground and shade area on the campus of Milan Christian Academy. Chin up and parallel bars will be constructed along with a shade comfort station that will include solar panels that will produce renewable power and act as a micro-grid infrastructure. “This project allows our students to give back to the community while at the same time being able to get hands on experience in welding, metal fabrication, painting, computer / digital technology, and installing solar” said Bruce Moore, Instructor TTC McKenzie.

“The grant in Milan represents Lowe’s commitment to career and technical education,” said Marshall Croom, chairman of Lowe’s Charitable and Educational Foundation. “By supporting schools like TTC McKenzie, we believe we are contributing to a cause that’s important to our customers and employees by helping provide improved learning environments and build stronger communities.”

GREEN POWER GOES ONLINE

On Friday January 13th the Tennessee Technology Center at McKenzie's Green Technology class has gone online with Solar. The school's 3K array will now be producing power and selling it back to TVA.
