Graduation-Summer 2013

Over 70 students were the first graduating students from the Tennessee College of Applied Technology-McKenzie.  Thirty students participated in the graduation ceremony held at the Presbyterian Church in McKenzie on August 26, 2013.

New Name as of July 1, 2013

Our name has changed. 

As of July 1, 2013 all TTC's will now be Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology.

SkillsUSA National Winner


Joey Davis, HVAC student, won Bronze in Major Appliance & Refrigeration Technology at SkillsUSA National Competition in June 2013.

 Two other students enrolled at TCAT-McKenzie finished 6th in the nation.

Out of the 90 Post Secondary Tennessee Students participating, 50 received medals, 18 of which were Gold. This was a very respectable showing for the State of Tennessee.

Automotive Student of the Month

 
 
Congratulations, Automotive Student of the Month, Joe Parkin!

Ray Smith Chevrolet of Camden has partnered with Tennessee College of Applied Technology-McKenzie to enhance Automotive students' learning and work ethic.

Each month a student is selected for the Ray Smith Student of The Month Award. The selection process is a joint effort between the Instructor and the Automotive student body.
The nominee will have excelled in class participation, have an outstanding attitude and display significant progress in his/her skill ability in the shop.

The Instructor, Dan Townsend, states “This recognition by a local employer has been a real wake up call to students, because not only are they recognized as the top achiever, Ray Smith awards a $50.00 tool gift certificate each month to the winner

Fun Day 2013!

Student Senate worked hard to organize and direct Fun Day 2013.  Each class was in charge of at least one activity in order to raise money for the Student Senate.  The Student Senate funds community projects through the school year along with contributing funds to SkillsUSA members to cover expenses during competition.

A total of $486 was raised this year.

Some winners: Donald Gearin won the TV raffled off by Green Electronics 1

                         Libby Cooper won the jar of Jelly Beans guessing closest to 512

                         Eric Ford & Stan Williams won the Egg Toss

                         James Tucker won the Darts Contest

                         Reed Wright won the Arm Wrestling Competition 

                         Welding won the Tug of War Competition

                         Ricky Choate and Jimmy Kee tied for the Pie in the Face with Donald Gearin and                          Jo Wallace being the highest bidders to throw the pies. 
                         There was a 7 cent difference in money raised between the two winners.
