HVAC Students Lend a Hand
A group of students from the HVAC class recently worked on some units at the Boys and girls club of Northwest TN in Union City. Instructor Terry Wilson inquired about bringing his class over to look at the units since he is always looking for real-life experiences to help better prepare his classes. The class came to the club and, within four days, had all four of the units operating, even after club officials had been told two of the units were beyond repair. Since the group did the work as training, they did not charge the Boys & Girls Club for any labor and the club was only out a few dollars for parts. Club Director Tracy Boucher said the club was "truly blessed" to have men willing to take time out of their schedules and work in hot weather to ensure the club could have air conditioning. The Boys & Girls Club is certified through the Tennessee Department of Education and if the air had not been repaired, the club would have been forced to shut down the program or find an alternative site for its summer program.
